Hi SKB, This is really hard for me to write, but I’ve reached a point where I can’t do this on my own anymore. A little bit about me, well I am a single mother and I am really struggling right now.
I had to fight a really hard legal battle to get my daughter back because she was taken abroad without my consent by her father. The legal fees honestly drained everything I had but I did what any mother would do. Plus I’ve been left alone to pay off anything that me and her father had to pay when we were still together.
Since all of that, I have been in and out of work. This is because I don’t have anyone to help with childcare or anything for that matter. My mental and physical health has declined so much that I have had to stop working completely. I’m struggling to make ends meet, living in a flat I can’t even furnish and now drowning in small debts that I just can’t clear on my own.
I have always been independent. I’ve worked since I was 15 and moved out at 18 and lived on my own. Asking for help is terrifying for me but I’ve hit a wall. Are there any single mothers who have been in my position out there who can offer me some words of support? I don’t know how I can carry on each day and if this situation will every get any better.

Hi there, firstly I am so sorry you are in this position. No woman should have to bear the brunt of parenting on her own but there are women who are constantly being put into this position through no fault of their own. I want to say, stay strong. You have achieved so much already and those wins are things to be so proud of. Are you based in the UK? Would reaching out to charities help?
